Replica Watch Review: Panerai Luminor North Pole GMT PAM252
27 July 2010I own 10 replica watches by far. But I never posted a review before. Now I think it is due time to starting writing watch reviews. The first watch reviewed here is a replica Panerai Luminor North Pole GMT PAM252. I hope this mini review can bring you some useful information.
To begin with, I would like to introduce the genuine piece. Launched in 2006, it was meant to commemorate a successful North Pole expedition by Mike Horn. Officine Panerai made it a limited edition of just 500 pieces.Beating inside is an OP Cal. VIII which is , basically, is a ETA7750 with date and GMT complication. In modern Panerai history, it is one of the most sought after models.
The first replica version emerged several months after the watch watch was released. And the one reviewed here appeared much later and was greatly impoved than the earliest version. It is fitted with an Asian 7750 hi beat rate with GMT and date complications.
The biggest appeal of the watch(for me ) is the dial. It dresses beautiful dark matte blue color. It is too dark that you may mistake it as dark grey/black colour in certain light condition. And thanks to single-sided AR coating, the dial and datewheel do not suffer to much reflection. Overall, the dial is pretty attractive to look at.
The datewheel has a black background and correct bold white numbers on it. The magnification looks very good on this model.The readability of this watch is also very good. It has uncluttered design despite the presence of extra GMT hands. The silver hands go well together with the dark blue dial. The presence of C3 coloured lume blends very well too. However, the lume is as expected. It has standard replica lume. It’s brighter than some other Panerai reps but this is nowhere near the genuine C3 Superluminova.
The bezel has a solid 60 clicks. It centres properly and doesn’t wobble. The cut of bezel teeth and the markers are done very well.
The strap is not bad at all. It is of different quality than old replica Panerai watches. This one doesn’t attract dust and softer than the old rep rubber strap. The deployant locks the strap perfectly and pretty easy to operate too.
In conclusion, The watch is vwry well copied though with a few flaws. When worn on the wrist, it produces a great deal of presence. It feels like a high end watch as well. I highly recommend to this watch if you are on the market for a good Panerai replica watch.
